May the Fates Be with You!

There's no secret to how A ended up the way she is.  You just have to look back in history to find the clues.  She's not a random piece of protoplasm but a carefully constructed - yes, even fated - spark of brilliance who's been inhabiting our lives for 40 years (plus 9 months more for me!).

Examples?  You want examples?  Well here are a few to get us started.

  • December 5, 1360 Creation of the French Franc - but of course - A is going to need currency on every continent to support her traveling and shopping - could Paris be next on her flight plan?
  • December 5, 1484 Pope Innocent VIII issues the Summis desiderantes, a papal bull that deputizes Heinrich Kramer and James Sprenger as inquisitors to root out alleged witchcraft in Germany and leads to one of the severest witchhunts in European historybut of course - A will have to root out all the hexes placed on ticketing software
  • December 5, 1496 King Manuel I of Portugal issues a decree of expulsion of ""heretics"" from the country - but of course - A will need skills to expel bogus ticket holders and fence climbers etc.
  • December 5, 1766 "In London, James Christie holds his first sale - but of course - A will need to be able to manage auctions and other marketing ventures
  • December 5, 1879 Daniel and Thomas Connolly and Thomas McTighe received a patent for the first automatic telephone system - need I say more????
  • December 5, 1894 Phillip K. Wrigley (Wrigley Gum) born - but of course - A will need someone to curse when the sticky stuff shows up everywhere at the venue - and, did you know that gum was a marketing giveaway that became more popular than the product - can we say no one remembers the product just the gum?  But of course - A will need to know how to roll with the punches when it comes to products and marketing
  • December 5, 1929 "First US nudist organization (American League for Physical Culture, NYC) - but of course - this explains what happens in XYZ stays in XYZ - if you haven't heard the stories then you weren't in XYZ with A
  • December 5, 1932 German-born Swiss physicist Albert Einstein is granted an American visa - but of course - this explains the bed head - guilt by example
  • December 5, 1932 The first Ford Model C automobile was introduced. It boasted the first four-cylinder engine made by Ford with a counter-balanced crankshaft - can we say TRUCK!! and when it doesn't run, though, we can't say that A is a very balanced crankshaft - she reverts to placing hexes, thus introducing an inherent inconsistency - sign of her brilliant humanity - into her essential nature - rooting out hexes in software and placing hexes in vehicles
  • Ladies and gentlemen, this explains it all - December 5, 1933 18th Amendment (Prohibition) repealed - and the stage is set for many an evening with friends
  • December 5, 1945 Aircraft squadron lost in the Bermuda Triangle - if A ever turns up missing the Bermuda Triangle got her after a cruise ship drifted too far north - and she'll have lots of company!
  • December 5, 1951 """Dragnet"" premiers"  - but of course - ever been on the phone with A during concert season?  Kind, polite, to the point - just the facts ma'am.
  • December 5, 1955 E.D. Nixon and Rosa Parks lead the Montgomery Bus Boycott - while the little old ladies at Penney's in South St. Louis figured my little girl's daddy must be Italian (they couldn't think broadly enough for another alternative!!!), we know that A is another strong woman in the Rosa Parks tradition
  • December 5, 1958 Subscriber Trunk Dialling (STD) is inaugurated in the UK by Queen Elizabeth II when she speaks to the Lord Provost in a call from Bristol to Edinburgh - but of course - A will find the phone indispensable and every technology will be needed to help connect her to friends and family far and wide
  • And the ultimate spark for our NFL Gal - December 5, 1974 Seattle Seahawks formed
